What we do
- Hood exhaust fans: installation, repair and replacement of motors, belts, pulleys and bearings.
- Make-up air: installation and repair of units that replace exhausted air, tempered or untempered.
- Air balancing between the kitchen and dining room, so smoke doesn’t drift into the dining area and cool air isn’t lost.
- Hood controls: switches, variable speed drives and interlocks with the make-up air.
- Ventilation for dish areas and wet areas.
Signs your ventilation isn’t working right
- Smoke or steam that lingers in the kitchen or reaches the dining room.
- The kitchen is too hot even with the air conditioning on.
- Doors that are hard to open or slam shut on their own (negative pressure).
- Noises, squealing or vibration from the rooftop exhaust fan.
- Grease dripping around the fan on the roof.
- Kitchen odors in the dining room or hotel hallways.
Ventilation, air conditioning and your energy bill
The hood, the make-up air and the air conditioning work as a single system. When they’re not balanced, the A/C works overtime to cool hot, humid air that comes in where it shouldn’t. That’s why we check all three together and explain what to adjust. Also see air conditioning for restaurants and hotels.
What we don’t do and how we coordinate it
Deep cleaning of grease ducts and installation or recharging of the hood’s fire suppression system are performed by specialized, certified companies. If your project needs them, we coordinate with them so everything is ready for inspection.

Frequently asked questions
Why does my kitchen fill with smoke even with the hood on?
The most common causes are a loose or broken belt, a motor turning slower than normal, clogged grease filters or a lack of make-up air. We check the complete system to find the problem.
What is make-up air?
It’s outside air that comes into the kitchen to replace what the hood exhausts. Without it, the building ends up under negative pressure: smoke isn’t removed properly, doors are hard to open and the dining room’s air conditioning escapes into the kitchen.
Why is the rooftop exhaust fan noisy?
It’s usually a worn belt, dry or damaged bearings, or blades unbalanced by grease buildup. It’s best to have it checked soon, before the motor burns out.
Do you clean grease ducts?
No. Grease duct cleaning is done by specialized companies. We take care of the mechanical side: exhaust fans, motors, belts, controls and make-up air.
Do you work in hotel kitchens?
Yes. We serve hotel kitchens, banquet operations and staff cafeterias, as well as independent restaurants and chains.
