Commercial refrigeration installation in Tampa and surrounding areas

Whether you're opening a new business, expanding your kitchen or need to replace equipment that's reached the end of its life, a well-chosen, well-installed refrigeration system saves you breakdowns and electricity for years. At Tecnorima, with more than 30 years of experience, we install and replace commercial refrigeration systems in Tampa, from a single condensing unit to the complete system for a walk-in.

What we install

  • Condensing units for walk-ins, freezers and display cases, on the ground, a wall or the roof.
  • Evaporators and their controls.
  • Complete refrigeration systems for new walk-in coolers and freezers.
  • Remote condensers to move the heat out of the kitchen or sales floor.
  • Refrigerant lines, drains and temperature controls, with alarms when needed.
  • Replacement of equipment that’s old or uses refrigerants being phased out.

For complete walk-ins (panels, doors and box), see our walk-in cooler service.

How we work

  1. Visit and assessment. We look at the space, what you’ll store, the temperature you need and how often the door opens during the day.
  2. Load calculation. We size the equipment for your actual use and Tampa’s heat, so it’s neither undersized nor bigger than necessary.
  3. Detailed quote. We present the equipment options and the installation cost, with no surprises.
  4. Installation. We mount the equipment, make the electrical and refrigerant connections, leak-test and charge the system to the manufacturer’s specifications.
  5. Start-up and testing. We leave the system pulling down and holding temperature and explain its basic operation.

When should refrigeration equipment be replaced?

  • When the equipment is old and repairs come more and more often.
  • When the compressor needs replacing and the rest of the unit is also worn.
  • When it uses a refrigerant that’s increasingly expensive or hard to find.
  • When energy use has gone up a lot or the equipment can no longer keep up with your operation.

If you’re not sure, we start with a diagnosis; sometimes a commercial refrigeration repair is enough, and we’ll tell you honestly.

Refrigerants and current regulations

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is restricting the use of high global-warming-potential refrigerants, such as R-404A, in many types of new commercial refrigeration equipment. When installing or replacing a system, we recommend equipment with refrigerants approved for your application, and we handle and recover refrigerants in compliance with EPA regulations.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know what size equipment I need?

It depends on the size of the space, the temperature you need, what you store, how much product comes in warm and how many times the door opens. We do a load calculation at your location to recommend the right equipment.

Where should the condensing unit be installed?

In a well-ventilated spot and, if possible, out of direct sun, whether on the roof, an exterior wall or the ground. A poor location makes the equipment work harder in Tampa’s heat.

What about equipment that uses R-404A?

Existing equipment can still be repaired, but new EPA rules restrict this refrigerant in many new units, and its price tends to rise. When replacing equipment, we recommend options with approved refrigerants.

How much does it cost to install a commercial refrigeration system?

It depends on the type and size of the equipment, the location and the installation work required. After visiting your location we give you a clear, detailed quote.

Can you replace just the condensing unit on my walk-in?

Yes, if the rest of the system is in good condition and compatible. We inspect it and tell you whether it makes sense to replace only the condensing unit or the evaporator as well.
