Commercial dryer venting in Tampa and surrounding areas

A commercial dryer only performs if it can push out hot, humid air. When the exhaust duct fills with lint or the room doesn't get enough air, laundry takes longer to dry, gas or electricity use goes up, machines shut off on high temperature and the risk of fire increases. At Tecnorima, with more than 30 years of ventilation and climate-control experience in Tampa, we clean, inspect and correct venting for laundries, hotels and industrial plants.

Signs of a venting problem

  • Laundry takes longer to dry than before, even though the dryer is working.
  • Dryers shut off mid-cycle on the high-limit.
  • Lint buildup behind the machines, at the outside vent or on the ceiling.
  • The laundry room is too hot or humid.
  • A burning smell while the dryers are running.
  • The outside vent damper won’t open or is blocked.

What the service includes

Exhaust duct cleaning

We remove accumulated lint from each dryer’s individual duct and from the collectors (common ducts) that join several machines, all the way from the machine to the outside vent.

Duct inspection and correction

We check diameter, length, bends, material and joints against the dryer manufacturer’s specifications and the applicable code. If the duct is too long, has screwed joints that trap lint or uses unsuitable materials, we propose the correction.

Make-up air

Dryers pull a large volume of air out of the room. If that air isn’t replaced, the machines lose performance and can affect the draft of other gas appliances. We calculate the air the room needs and design the right air inlets.

Laundry room cooling

In Tampa, a laundry room with several dryers can reach temperatures that are very uncomfortable for staff. As HVAC specialists, we propose ventilation and cooling solutions that don’t compete with the dryers’ operation.

Why it matters in a commercial laundry

  • Faster drying, which means more cycles per hour and less energy spent per load.
  • Fewer failures of burners, heating elements and safety limits.
  • Lower fire risk from lint buildup.
  • A cooler workplace for your staff and a more comfortable space for your customers.

Recommended frequency

It depends on the number of dryers, hours of use and the type of laundry processed (towels generate a lot of lint). The manufacturer’s instructions and the applicable code are the reference. On the first inspection we check the condition of your ducts and recommend a cleaning frequency for your operation.

Frequently asked questions

How often should commercial dryer ducts be cleaned?

It depends on the number of dryers, hours of use and the type of laundry. A busy laundromat or a hotel that dries lots of towels will need more frequent cleaning than a small business. We recommend a frequency after inspecting your ducts.

Why do my dryers shut off on their own mid-cycle?

Often it’s because hot air can’t get out through a clogged or overly long duct, and the dryer’s high-limit cuts the heat to protect it. It can also be a failure of the limit itself or the fan. We check both the duct and the machine.

What is make-up air and why does my laundry need it?

It’s outside air that comes into the room to replace what the dryers exhaust. Without enough make-up air, dryers lose performance, the room heats up and other gas appliances can have draft problems.

Can you cool the laundry room?

Yes. We evaluate the heat load from the dryers and propose the right combination of ventilation and air conditioning, without taking air away from the dryers.

Do you clean dryer ducts in hotels and buildings?

Yes. We clean dryer ducts in in-house laundries at hotels, residences and industrial facilities, including common collectors serving several machines.
